Shenzhen Qianhai, hailed as “the Special Zone within the Special Zone,” is growing at an unprecedented pace. At the pivotal moment marking the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the 10th anniversary of the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cooperation Zone, Traxon e:cue partnered with Beijing Tsinghua Tongheng Academy of Planning and Design Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Kaiming Smart Construction Technology Co., Ltd. to create the Qianhai Light Show—a tribute to the city’s legacy and a vision for its future.
Illuminating Qianhai’s Landmark Skyline
Situated between urban structures and coastal landscapes, Qianhai’s new skyline is redefining Shenzhen’s modern identity. Following the Futian Light Show, Traxon e:cue once again delivered a groundbreaking synchronized lighting project. The Qianhai Light Show (EPC) Project serves as both a celebration of past achievements and a glimpse into the city’s aspirations.
Dynamic Lighting with Precision Control
The light show spans 32 high-rise and super high-rise buildings, with a design concept themed “Heart of Qianhai, Mighty Tides, Iconic Impressions.” Through precise lighting control and subtle light-shadow blending, it creates a stunning urban spectacle that showcases the spirit of this vibrant district.
Overcoming Challenges
This large-scale project required customized lighting fixtures, intricate spatial arrangements, and accurate color matching. Given blue light’s lower intensity compared to other colors, the blue-dominant theme—reflecting Qianhai’s coastal aesthetics—demanded extensive color sampling, tuning, and testing. Traxon e:cue implemented its proprietary Dynamood™ technology, which calibrates color curves across different lighting brands, ensuring a seamless, visually consistent display.
Instead of traditional dense uniform lighting, the project adopted an adaptive lighting density strategy, ensuring high image clarity even in areas with fewer fixtures. This innovative approach enhances the three-dimensional effect of the skyline, making Qianhai’s night scene more dynamic and immersive.
Smart Control System
As the solution provider for this integrated EPC lighting project, Traxon deployed the SYMPHO®City Central Management Platform to oversee high-voltage power control while maintaining compatibility with existing building systems. Through the e:cue Lighting Control Engine MX, Lighting Control Engine 2 FX, and SYMPL Essential Node, nearly 200,000 customized pixel lights and media tubes were interconnected, delivering an artistic and technologically advanced lighting experience.
The control system ensures real-time adjustments, allowing for seamless transitions between different lighting scenes. Whether it’s a grand festival display or a subtle ambient glow, the system adapts to various urban scenarios, making the Qianhai skyline a living canvas of light and movement.

With energy conservation at its core, this project highlights Qianhai’s commitment to smart city development and sustainable urban planning, setting a new benchmark for eco-friendly lighting solutions. The entire system is designed for low power consumption, reducing environmental impact while ensuring long-lasting, high-quality performance.
